The Rotary Club of Ingleburn is a Foundation Sponsor of the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur. We have been supporting this great local charity since 2005.
The 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur is an annual fundraising movement that exists to provide the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the Oncology Ward and the Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit at Campbelltown Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit and associated Outreach service at Camden Hospital with extra services and equipment they need to assist in the treatment, care and comfort of children and adults dealing with cancer.
The Macarthur region is very lucky to have access to world class cancer treatment facilities staffed by talented and caring health professions. The 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur has raised more than $4.6 million in 16 years to support the work of our local cancer treatment centre.
Each year the Rotary Club of Ingleburn provides support by running the lunch BBQ at the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur annual walkathon at the Campbelltown Athletics Centre. We fund the purchase of all the supplies and return all proceeds to the charity. In addition the club is a shirt sponsor for the event and many of our members also walk sponsored laps and sell raffle tickets in the annual Giant Raffle to raise additional funds.
The 24 Hour event is a great social event, a wonderful way to catch up with many of our community friends and wonderful people who work hard to support our community.
In 2020 the event was impacted by the pandemic, but we thought that we would do what we could to continue our association with the 24 hour Fight Against Cancer, Macarthur. This year we undertook to sell more raffle tickets, we ran our own mini-walkathon at Milton Park, Ingleburn invited our members and their families to participate. We estimate that we have raised over $50,000 for the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer, Macarthur since 2005.
