As part of the Sydney and Illawarra Rotary Project to deliver 20,000 lamingtons and coffee vouchers to frontline workers across the region on Australia Day, we met at Alkalizer in Campbelltown to pick up our Lamingtons with representatives from some of the other Macarthur Rotary Clubs.
Our part of the project was to deliver almost 1800 Lamingtons to Campbelltown Public Hospital, Campbelltown Fire and Rescue, Campbelltown Ambulance Station, Campbelltown Private Hospital, Macquarie Fields Police Station, Macquarie Fields Fire and Rescue, Macquarie Fields Ambulance Station and Ingleburn Fire and Rescue. Once we had loaded up the lamingtons, coffee vouchers and banners and our gear we split into two teams and commenced our deliveries.
All recipients were extremely grateful, with some having the pleasant task of distributing the lamingtons and vouchers to their staff ready for Australia Day.
The 1250 lamingtons and coffee vouchers for Campbelltown Hospital were distributed by Katherine and the General and Food Services teams the distribution happened this Australia Day morning, as we planned! We hope that all our frontline workers get to enjoy their lamington and a coffee from one of the 8 participating cafe’s across the Macarthur region.
Debra Scott from the General Services team says, “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for dropping off the lamingtons and vouchers. It’s incredibly kind of Rotary and I know all staff will be very appreciative, Thanks again“
Our thanks goes out to the National Australia Day Council who provided funding, the District 9675 and Macarthur Rotary Clubs organising committees, Alkalizer Cafe in Campbelltown who provided our lamingtons, Tony Wolf & Sons Quality Printers for the vouchers and posters, the 8 participating cafe’s across the region and all the other volunteers who helped out with preparation and deliveries.
