In 2018, the End Polio Now Train ride was conceived by a Rotary International employee and his son, whose aim was to ride the Sydney Rail Network and visit every one of the 187 stations within 24 hours. To support this worthy cause the District Governor and Club presidents rally Rotarians to join the train ride for as many stations as possible and present a cheque for the End Polio Campaign. Across the Two Sydney Rotary Districts approximately A$150,000 was raised in 2018 and in 2019.
The Rotary Club of Ingleburn has supported this event and fundraiser for the End Polio Campaign on both occasions by making a donation and arranging for our members to ride the trains from Glenfield to Leppington and Glenfield to Macarthur and return.
In 2020 World Polio Day is Saturday 24 October 2020, however the Train Ride will happen on Friday 23 October 2020 due to trackwork happening on the Saturday. Let us ride the train and talk to as many commuters as possible (COVID Safe) to generate funds and awareness of the polio scourge and its imminent elimination from the world.
